Though durable without any further treatment, some engineers might prefer to treat it with preservatives to bolster protection further. Its fine texture and interlocked grain make it suitable for piling, wharves, beams, columns, and marine construction.

A Medium Hardwood (density: 580–820 kg/m³ air dry), Kapur is moderately durable and delivers strength with an elegant finish. Kapur is relatively strong and leaves a beautiful finish. Its straight to interlocked grain makes it suitable for posts, beams, joists, staircases, and door/window frames.

A Medium to Heavy Hardwood (density: 770–1,120 kg/m³ air dry), Kempas is highly durable once treated, with strong mechanical properties. Kempas is also known for its strength properties which make it ideal for certain structural works. Kempas has a coarse yet even texture with an interlocked grain. Its coarse yet even texture makes it suitable for rafters, columns, joists, beams, and exterior structural works.
